Amy and Julie share an analysis of the new card's hands, smart strategies, and visual tricks to help make the transition to the new card seamless and fun. This session will focus on understanding the changes in the new card, identifying key patterns, and developing winning strategies.

Hand pivot options
Whether you're aiming to win more games or simply get comfortable with the new NMJL card, this class will set you up for success at the Mah Jongg table. Bring your new card (or bundle it with this class when you checkout), an open mind, and get ready to play smarter! The class will include a presentation followed by Open Play using the new card.
NOTE: If Mah Jongg Minds has not yet received our new cards, we will need to postpone this session by one week to May 5, so please pencil in that date as well.
This Class is Ideal for

Brand new players who have taken our Intro to Mah Jongg class.

Experienced players who want to quickly begin using the new card.
Tiles and all game equipment are provided. You do need to bring your own 2026 NMJL card or add one to your class booking when you register.
Logistics
Our lesson studio is located on the second floor and is accessed by a flight of stairs. Unfortunately, the building does not have an elevator.
If stairs are a concern for you, please reach out before booking. We’re always happy to help you determine whether a class is a good fit or discuss alternative options.

The National Mah Jongg League card is not included in the class fee. You may bring your own or purchase one by adding it to the cart when you book this class. We sometimes have cards available for purchase after the lesson as well.

You’re welcome to bring your own drink and a non-messy snack; we have basic snacks and water available.
Whether you’re going to miss last year's card or cannot wait to move to the next card, this session gives you a confidence-building foundation to transition quickly.
