Lessons are typically designed for groups of 4-16; if you would prefer a private class, please reach out to discuss options, especially if you prefer something more tailored.
We strive to complete each lesson in 2 hours; although ending on time depends somewhat on how social the participants are, as well as how many in-depth questions you have.
At our public adult classes, we welcome learners of ages 18 and up. Discuss with us a private class that includes ages 11+.
If you are interested in an all-teen class or school club, we have a teen bootcamp series of 4 classes. We adapt the pace and use age-appropriate activities at those classes; we aim to build confidence, logic and social connection through the game.
Our lesson studio is located on the second floor and is accessed by a flight of stairs. Unfortunately, the building does not have an elevator.
If stairs are a concern for you, please reach out before booking. We’re always happy to help you determine whether a class is a good fit or discuss alternative options.
Yes! Amy is a certified Oh My Mahjong instructor through the Mahji Mentor Program, which includes assessment and training designed to prepare teachers to share the game confidently and effectively.
It’s worth noting that the world of Mah Jongg instruction does not currently have a single official, universal certification requirement that all teachers must hold — there isn’t a governing body that mandates or issues one. Some organizations and programs offer their own certifications or accreditation, and we are actively pursuing additional training and credentials to continue strengthening our teaching expertise.
Our focus is on deep knowledge of the game’s rules, clear instruction, and helping students feel confident at the table, and we welcome any questions you have about our qualifications.
