Guided Play Class

Length: 2 hours of hands-on learning

Format: Public and Private classes offered

Location: Webster Studio or offsite

Maximum participants: 16 (instructor ratio is 1:8)

Ready to move beyond the basics and start feeling comfortable at the table? This guided play session is designed for players who understand the fundamentals of American Mah Jongg and want more practice with expert support.

In this 2-hour class, you’ll play full hands of Mah Jongg with instructors actively coaching throughout the game. Rather than stopping for lectures, guidance is woven into real play so concepts make sense in context.

 

We’ll focus on

• Strengthening your ability to read and choose a hand from the card

• Understanding when to pivot if a hand isn’t developing

• Building confidence with calling tiles, exposure, and Charleston decisions

• Recognizing common beginner pitfalls and how to avoid them

• Improving game flow, pace, and table confidence

Classes are kept intentionally small, with an instructor-to-student ratio of no more than 1:8, allowing for individualized feedback and plenty of questions.

 

This class is ideal for

• Students who have completed an Intro to American Mah Jongg class

• New players who know the rules but want guided, low-pressure practice

• Anyone who wants to feel more confident joining open play or social games

 

Please note

• A current National Mah Jongg League card is required (not included). Bring your own card or purchase one from us for $16.

• Tiles and game equipment are provided.

• Feel free to bring your own drink and/or non-messy snack.
